At its 9th correspondence session held on the 26th of September 2018, the Development Council of the Zasavje Region was informed by the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology to start the preparation of Regional development programs (RDP) 2021-2027 and with the Operational Plan on the participation of ministries in the preparation of RDP 2021-2027, approved by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.
The Council also adopted a decision on the preparation of the Regional Development Program (RDP) of the Zasavje Development Region for the period 2021-2027 and adopted the Program for the preparation of the Zasavje Region RDP for the period 2021-2027 in the municipalities of Trbovlje, Hrastnik, Zagorje ob Savi and Litija.
With the confirmation, the process of preparation of the mentioned document, which represents the basic programming document at the regional level for the new programming period, has officially begun.
On the 4th of July 2018, the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology informed the regional development agencies about the Operational Plan on the participation of ministries in the preparation of regional development programs 2021-2027 (the operational plan is available on the website of the ministry).
The Development Council of the Zasavje region, in cooperation with council committees and other stakeholders in the region, will start preparing the Regional Development Program of the Zasavje Development Region for the period 2021 - 2027, which will include:
- implementation timetable,
- the indicative financial evaluation and the sources of funding envisaged,
- presentation of quantified indicators and sources of monitoring indicators,
- project summary,
- an indication of the priority and action to which the project belongs,
- the target group for which the project is intended and an analysis of its needs,
- a description of the purpose and objectives of the project and a description of compliance with the development specialization of the region,
- presentation of the project promoter or group of partners,
- description of individual activities,
- indicative project timetable,
- spatial definition of suitable locations for carrying out activities,
- presentation of the indicative financial estimate by activity and the indicative total value, an indication of the indicative total value by projected sources of funding, and
- description of indicators and indication of data sources for monitoring indicators.
Professional, technical and administrative tasks in the preparation of the RDP for the Zasavje region and later the RDP itself will be performed by the Zasavje Regional Development Agency.

- definition of the vision of the region's development,
- definition and justification of development specializations of the region,
- definition and description of (strategic) development goals of the region,
- definition and description of development priorities of the region with quantified indicators and indication of data sources for monitoring indicators,
- a joint indicative financial estimate of the value of the RDP,
- definition and detailed description of measures within each priority with:
- implementation timetable,
- the indicative financial evaluation and the sources of funding envisaged,
- presentation of quantified indicators and sources of monitoring indicators,
- definition of the system of monitoring, evaluation and organization of RDP implementation,
- definition of the system of informing and informing the public about the planning and implementation of the RDP, and
- presentation of the most important regional projects, where each project must be presented in a rough way so that its composition is as follows:
- project summary,
- an indication of the priority and action to which the project belongs,
- the target group for which the project is intended and an analysis of its needs,
- a description of the purpose and objectives of the project and a description of compliance with the development specialization of the region,
- presentation of the project promoter or group of partners,
- description of individual activities,
- indicative project timetable,
- spatial definition of suitable locations for carrying out activities,
- presentation of the indicative financial estimate by activity and the indicative total value, an indication of the indicative total value by projected sources of funding, and
- description of indicators and indication of data sources for monitoring indicators.
