PROJECT FOR GREATER EMPLOYABILITY OF YOUNG PEOPLE - PROJECT KEY

Project for greater employability of young people “Project Key” is coordinated by Youth Centre Trbovlje and involves the following project partners:
RDA Zasavje,
RA Kozjansko,
YC Zagorje ob Savi,
YC ŠMOCL Lasko and
Katapult Trbovlje.
 
The project is being implemented between 15/09/2016 and 09/15/2018, funds for its implementation are provided by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport from the European Social Fund (Public tender to promote active citizenship of young people for greater employment from 2016 to 2018).
 
The project will be implemented in the Zasavje and Savinjska region, its main purpose is to increase the employability and employment of young people (15-29 years of age), including vulnerable groups (NEET, long-term unemployed, etc.) via methods of youth work (training of soft skills), specific trainings (response to the needs of the economy) and solving challenges of companies with an aim of employment.
 
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT:
  • Establishment of a community of young people and employers (networking - include 100 young people within 2 years) in all 4 municipalities involved - Key Club.
  • New way of employment (solving challenges with an aim of employment, 50 challenges within 2 years, 60 companies involved) – Key Model.
  • Knowing the needs of employers in both regions.
  • Integration of young people from vulnerable groups - long-term unemployed (at least 30).
  • 18 employments over the period of the project.

The main project activities:

Young people:
  • attending the trainings of so-called soft skills,
  • attending the professional trainings.
Employers:
  • mentoring of young people,
  • preparation of challenges for young people to solve.

What did young people gain with the project?
  • the opportunity to acquire new skills and knowledge,
  • direct contact with a potential employer,
  • the opportunity to gain practical experiences,
  • enhanced social network,
  • an opportunity for regular employment.

What did the companies/institutions/organizations gain with the project?
  • new way of employment via challenges that vary the level of activation of candidates,
  • response to the specific needs of employers in both regions,
  • linkage with potential candidates for employment amid 15 – 29 years of age,
  • candidates for employment who are proficient in soft skills (communication, project and crisis management, teamwork, etc.),
  • candidates for employment who are specifically trained based on the needs of the local economy (eg. PR, marketing, etc.),
  • covering the expenses for mentors for specific training at your company,
  • promotion of the project (website, interviews, etc.),
  • construction of a positive role model in the local community.

At the end of the project, the project coordinator (Youth centre Trbovlje) and project partners prepared a final conference on the 11th of June 2018 and elaborated a KEY manual with guidelines for the elaboration and implementation of the project in the field of youth employment.

The project included 149 young people from both regions, of which at least 51 were given a job opportunity with the help of the project.
